Is There a Valid Justification?
Some airline representatives claim their policies are posted online, stating that the purchaser may need to present the credit card used at the airport or ticket counter, alongside valid photo identification. However, critics argue that this requirement is impractical, especially for travelers who purchased tickets as gifts or via corporate accounts.
Moreover, the policy is inconsistently enforced; at times, it appears to be a hard rule, while other times, agents make exceptions. The inconsistency, coupled with poor notification, results in travelers being blindsided at critical moments, such as during check-in for international flights.
