Federal Scrutiny and Challenges
The plan has recently come under federal scrutiny. The Office for Civil Rights, part of the U.S. Department of Education, issued a letter warning CPS that it could lose federal funding because of claims that the initiative may inadvertently discriminate against students who are not Black. This response was prompted by a federal investigation that reads into concerns about the racial focus of the program, especially following the Supreme Court's decision to ban affirmative action in college admissions.
