The story of Lemonade begins with a group of neighbors gathering in a backyard shortly after September 11, 2001. Inspired by the collective grief and desire to make a difference, they decided to do something meaningful. As neighbor Chris Hari recounts, they initially hoped to adopt a block as a way to organize their efforts.
In 2002, they launched the first lemonade stand, inviting neighbors to bring change to donate to local causes. That inaugural event raised about $400. Over the years, participation and contributions have grown exponentially, demonstrating the power of community unity.
