Part 7/11:
Expansion in Tesla’s Production and Market Share
Beyond autonomous driving, Tesla’s China operations are thriving. Tesla China’s VP Grace How announced the commencement of a production ramp at Giga Shanghai at the start of Q4, aiming to meet surging demand. In fact, Tesla delivered 169,000 vehicles in China during Q3—its best quarter of 2025 and the fourth-highest since market entry.
Despite economic challenges, shifting market dynamics, and intensifying competition from domestic Chinese EV giants like BYD, Tesla maintains profitability and continues to expand its foothold. Elon Musk asserts that Tesla is uniquely profitable among global EV makers, many of whom rely heavily on Chinese government subsidies, whereas Tesla’s efficiency and scale grant it resilience.
