Part 3/12:
The Engineering Challenges
White emphasizes that turning the Cyber Cab concept—initially envisioned as an autonomous, robotaxi-style vehicle—into a human-compatible car with a steering wheel, pedals, and familiar controls is not straightforward. The existing design revolves around low horsepower (around 80-100 horsepower) optimized for autonomous operation, not human driving.
Adding traditional driving inputs would require significant modifications:
Larger motors with appropriate cooling systems
Reinforced suspension for handling lateral G-forces
Upgraded tires rated for highway speeds (which Cyber Cabs don't support)
Rewired wiring harnesses to accommodate mirrors and controls
Structural modifications (e.g., replacing interior panels and structural supports)
