Part 6/15:
Privacy Risks Tied to Windows 11 Features
Microsoft ID and Cloud Integration
One of the most egregious privacy violations in Windows 11 is the mandatory collection of a Microsoft account—referred to here as the Microsoft ID—or Microsoft Account login. Historically, users could install Windows without tying their device to Microsoft’s cloud system, but recent updates make this increasingly difficult.
This account enables Microsoft to link device identifiers and user activity to a centralized cloud profile. As a privacy expert, the author notes that such practices fundamentally undermine anonymity, exposing every user action and data point to corporate surveillance.
