Part 2/11:
Tesla’s management faces several regulatory hurdles, especially around the potential automation of the Cybertruck and the Cybercabs. The core issue revolves around federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS), which currently limit the production and use of vehicles without steering wheels or pedals to 2,500 units. This regulation could bottleneck the rollout of fully autonomous cyber cabs, unless it is amended in upcoming regulatory changes planned for spring. Tesla is rumored to be considering implementing steer-by-wire technology, which might allow the addition of traditional steering components or fully autonomous operation without a physical wheel.
