The Core Question: Can Thinking Occur Without Memory?
At the heart of the talk lies a fundamental question: Is it possible to think without memory? Humans, and by extension AI systems, require context and background knowledge to process information and make decisions. Our brains are constantly working, but without memory—both short-term and long-term—we would struggle to think effectively about anything beyond immediate sensations. Every thought is rooted in some form of memory, which provides the necessary framework for understanding and reasoning.
