Panelists agreed that India's greatest advantages—talent, business understanding, and a supportive ecosystem—must be complemented by long-term focus and increased investment in foundational research. There was consensus that India needs a dedicated effort to develop core AI infrastructure and research capabilities, which could be supported through government initiatives similar to that of the Indian mission.
Additionally, there was a shared understanding that public infrastructure—such as datasets, compute platforms, and knowledge exchange networks—must be scaled up to match global standards. Encouragingly, the rapid growth of AI use cases across sectors demonstrates strong latent potential.
