Part 3/12:

Electric vehicle charging is categorized into three levels: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. However, only Levels 1 and 2 are relevant for home charging, while Level 3 pertains to public DC fast chargers.

Level 1 Charging: Trickle Power from a Standard Outlet

Level 1 involves plugging your Tesla into a regular residential 120-volt outlet using the Tesla Mobile Connector. This is the simplest method and typically included with your vehicle purchase.

  • Adapter & Power: Comes with two adapters: a Nema 515 (standard outlet) and a Nema 520 (more robust).

  • Charging Rate: Provides approximately 1.3 kW, translating to roughly 3-5 miles of range per hour.
