Turing’s team devised machines that could reason about possible Enigma settings, dramatically accelerating the process of decryption. These "Bombes" didn't decode messages outright but narrowed down the settings to be tried on the actual Enigma machines. Multiplying the speed and scale of human analysts and mechanical devices turned what was once thought impossible into a feasible, rapidly repeatable process.
