The Purasaurus was heavily armored with thick scales and osteoderms, providing protection in a hostile environment filled with debris and dense vegetation. It inhabited various water bodies across the basin, from rivers to floodplains, ruling undisputed over Pabos' waters. However, it was not alone. The basin also accommodated a vast array of other crocodilians, including the Griosucus and Morasucus, each embodying their own giants. Griosucus, with estimates over 33 feet (10 meters), likely preyed upon large fish and possibly small mammals, while Morasucus, a broad-headed, duck-like crocodilian, reached lengths of nearly 31 feet (9.5 meters) and weighed over 4 tons—akin to four giraffes stacked together.
