Part 8/13:
Fast forward to 2020, and the Internet of Things (IoT) embodies much of Wells’ vision, now feasible through advanced sensors, big data, and artificial intelligence. IoT connects virtually everything—from smartphones and wearables to household appliances, automobiles, industrial equipment, and even nanotechnology.
O'Fallon highlights that every object and component can now transmit data about performance, behavior, and environment, creating an ubiquitous digital layer that surrounds us. The data collected is processed through AI algorithms, contributing to an ever-expanding "global brain"—a digital nervous system that constantly learns, adapts, and predicts.
