I accept that the world is often a deeply flawed, even evil, place. Horrible events happen regularly—wars, famine, disease, violence. The Bible’s Book of Job offers a powerful reflection on suffering, illustrating that amid chaos and pain, faith and resilience are crucial.
Acknowledging these truths doesn’t mean resignation but a call for moral clarity. While tragedy is unavoidable, what we do in response, especially in the digital age, defines our collective morality.
The Dark Side of Online Reactions
What disturbs me most are the reactions following Kirk’s death. Instead of mourning or denouncing violence, a disturbing subset of people online chose celebration—doxxing, sharing graphic videos, and creating grotesque merchandise glorifying or mocking the tragedy.
