Yet, on this first journey, the reality fell somewhat short. Complaints from passengers pointed to uncomfortable, stiff seating and outdated amenities, such as aging USB ports that seemed relics of the past. Moreover, the trains failed to reach their top speeds of 160 miles per hour (260 km/h), as initial expectations suggested they would. Instead, only five of the promised twenty-eight units were active, with no new routes or significant time gains. While the trains were roomier, equipped with tilting technology that improved comfort, the overall experience did not feel revolutionary as hoped.
