Part 5/12:
Before redistricting, Texas had several Democratic-held districts, including those in the Rio Grande Valley and urban areas like Austin and Dallas. The latest map, however, significantly redraws these boundaries. The districts in the Rio Grande Valley tip further into the Republican column, and districts connecting Austin to San Antonio are obliterated, effectively eliminating Democratic seats like that of Congressman Al Green, known for his fiery speeches. New districts are drawn to favor Republican candidates, shifting the political landscape noticeably in favor of the GOP.
