Part 9/11:
While the band enjoyed renewed popularity, they faced challenges. The comparison to Springsteen kept them at arm’s length from major record labels, who were hesitant to sign a band that seemed like a clone. Nevertheless, Cafferty and the band produced more albums, including music for the sequel Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives in 1989—which was critically and commercially unsuccessful. The band was eventually dropped from their label, but they continued touring and performing live.
Cafferty also had a successful solo career, with his song "Hearts on Fire" featured in Rocky IV, and over 30 songs appearing in major movie soundtracks, showcasing his lasting influence in the industry.
