Part 2/15:
Tesla is consolidating its chip architecture from two designs to one, focusing all silicon talent on creating a singular, exceptional chip. This shift is considered a no-brainer by Musk and reflects Tesla's commitment to optimizing their full self-driving hardware. Currently, Tesla’s chips in vehicles come from Samsung and TSMC, with AI5 in the design phase and mass production expected by the end of 2026, primarily through TSMC at either Taiwan or Arizona. AI6 will be developed mainly in Tesla’s Austin, Texas Silicon team, with a supply deal starting in 2026 with Samsung.
