It appears to be developing a secondary loop or minimum extending toward Africa, with the possibility that the anomaly may soon split into two separate regions, each migrating in different directions. This potential bifurcation could alter the way the anomaly interacts with space climate and impact satellite operations in the future.
Shifts in the Northern Magnetic Pole
The Earth's magnetic pole is also undergoing notable movement. The data show significant changes in the two primary strong-field regions over Canada and Siberia. Since 2014, the Canadian strong-field area has diminished markedly, shrinking by about 65% in surface area and decreasing in maximum intensity by 800 nanotesla.
