Central to XAI’s strategy is their state-of-the-art training facility in Memphis, Tennessee, named Colossus. Construction began in May 2023, in a remarkable feat of rapid development: they repurposed an existing home appliance factory into a sprawling 785,000 square foot AI training hub, completing the project in just 122 days. The facility was initially filled with 100,000 GPUs, primarily NVIDIA’s H100 units, each costing roughly $25,000—an investment of around $5 billion solely in hardware.
