Part 6/13:

Cultural tensions are particularly evident with immigrant communities. Despite integrating better than many European counterparts, immigrants in France tend to be a net tax drain, with studies showing an annual GDP loss of around 3.4-4% attributable to immigration. Unemployment among non-EU foreigners is nearly double that of natives—19.5% compared to 8%—and poverty rates are disproportionately high. Many immigrants, especially from African nations, find themselves trapped in poverty and reliant on welfare, fueling resentment and further social fragmentation.
