The Current Impasse: A Country at the Crossroads
In July 2024, Venezuela held a heavily contested election, widely regarded internationally as fraudulent. China and Russia recognized Maduro’s victory, solidifying their support, while Western nations and regional partners condemned the elections. Mass protests erupted, demanding democratic change, but security forces—many equipped, trained, or influenced by Russia—reacted with violence.
Amidst these external pressures and internal turmoil, Venezuela remains locked in a deadlock. Its economy on the brink, its sovereignty challenged from multiple directions, and its people living in crisis, the nation embodies the global struggle for influence, resources, and regional dominance.
