Part 5/8:
Tesla's upcoming release of v13 marks a pivotal milestone. It is expected to go wide this week and is anticipated to boost the miles between interventions to around 1,000 miles. Achieving this milestone would mean that Tesla vehicles would need only about one intervention per 1,000 miles—a level so high that the system would essentially be safer than a typical human driver.
Should Tesla succeed in stacking such improvements rapidly—say, an initial 6x boost with v13 and an additional 6x increase afterward—the frequency of interventions would decrease from thousands of miles down to just once or twice annually for average drivers. This would represent a near-complete transformation in autonomous driving capability, paving the way for fully autonomous RoboTaxis to become a reality.
