Amidst the framing, the homeowner undertakes some exterior improvements. They plan to extend the sidewalk, adding concrete and possibly leveling off the areas to create a uniform look. This involves moving doghouses and making trip preparations for mixing and pouring concrete, including picking up additional bags of concrete and preparing tools.
To combat water issues around the structure—particularly the problematic high water table—the owner devises a plan to add soil up to the foundation, tapering it down into landscaping with plants. "When you add soil and plants, it soaks up the water," they explain. Guttering installation is also on the horizon to divert rainwater effectively, further reducing water intrusion concerns.
