Chinese companies understand that relocating or establishing manufacturing plants within the U.S. involves high costs, regulatory hurdles, and strategic risks. Importing vehicles directly from China is unlikely due to tariffs and the lack of incentives, making local manufacturing the only feasible pathway. But given the current political landscape, this is a risky move. As Monroe notes, unless international relations dramatically improve or escalation occurs, Chinese EVs will remain largely absent from the U.S. market.
