Next, the gardener turned attention to sourcing and preparing containers for planting. Old coolers—found discarded in a junk pile—were drilled with drainage holes at the bottom, making them ideal for herbs and small plants. Smaller buckets and culvert pipes were also repurposed; sticks and mulch were added to culvert pieces to create custom mini garden beds. Feed sacks, cut open, served as weed barriers and planting mats, ready to be filled with soil.
