An old hourglass was found while working, an interesting leftover that added to the day's discoveries. Vegetable peelings, potato skins, and other kitchen scraps were composted directly in the garden beds, ensuring a continuous supply of organic matter.
Assembling and Filling the Garden Containers
The gardener then moved on to filling the containers with soil. Feed sacks were cut to create custom planting beds, filled with dirt, and trimmed for a tidy appearance. Mulch was added first in some containers to retain moisture and suppress weeds, followed by soil and organic compost. The importance of worms was noted as a sign of good soil health.
