Bellinger is a more attractive option, particularly because of his proven offensive ability and defensive versatility. The Mets could sign him to be their center fielder in 2026 and transition him to right field afterward. But it's unlikely he returns to Queens unless the Mets are prepared to give him a long-term deal, which is complicated given his recent inconsistency and the Yankees' interest in re-signing him. His potential presence at a premium cost makes internal development even more appealing.
