Material Sourcing and Future Plans
Material costs are a recurring theme. The reduction in lumber prices makes it feasible to plan for higher-quality finishes in the future. For now, plywood will serve as a temporary surface for the stairs, with plans to upgrade to hardwood once funds allow.
He also plans to tear out the old cedar siding, which will provide additional raw material for future projects. The cedar, while not perfect for high-traffic stairs, is salvageable and can be repurposed creatively elsewhere.
