Part 2/8:
Sydney Sweeney, currently one of Hollywood’s most sought-after talents, appeared in a casual ad promoting American Eagle Jeans. In the ad, she highlighted her features—blue eyes, blonde hair—and expressed her fondness for the jeans. The left-wing media and social justice communities immediately jumped on the campaign, labeling her a Nazi, a white supremacist, or worse. These accusations were built on the premise that her traditional, white-looking appearance and her endorsement were somehow incompatible with progressive values.
This initial mobilization was swift but, as it turns out, profoundly misguided. The outrage only served to draw more attention to Sweeney, who was unwittingly becoming a symbol of resistance against cancel culture.
