Part 2/11:
Amidst controversy, the governing body for athletics, World Athletics, has taken a decisive step to uphold fairness in female competition. Historically, the inclusion of transgender women—individuals assigned male at birth who later identify as female—has sparked heated debate. Critics argued that some male athletes, due to higher testosterone levels and biological advantages, skewed competition and compromised the integrity of female sports.
Last year’s Olympic Games brought these tensions to a head when Algerian boxer Aman Khalif, who possesses male chromosomes and previously failed a gender test, competed and secured a gold medal in the women’s division. Such incidents fueled accusations of unfair advantage and called into question the legitimacy of women’s sport.
