Part 1/12:
Venezuela's Military Debacle and Rising Tensions in Yemen: An Analysis
A Disastrous Display of Military Weakness
Recently, Venezuela's military suffered a significant setback during a routine training exercise off its northern coast. An amphibious warship, the Kapana, partially sank during coastal maneuvers, exposing cracks in the country's military apparatus. The vessel, built in South Korea in the early 1980s and recently refurbished in 2023, was one of only four Kaponoclass landing craft capable of transporting tanks, vehicles, and troops. Its sinking not only highlights the vessel’s structural vulnerabilities but also underscores the broader issues plaguing the Venezuelan Navy, which has been strained by years of economic decay and corruption.
