Vladimir Putin recently hosted what was billed as a grand diplomatic event—the Russia Arab World Summit—in Moscow. The summit was designed to reaffirm Moscow’s prominence in the Middle East amid increasing regional attention on U.S. influence and shifting alliances. However, the reality proved starkly different. Instead of showcasing Russian strength and influence, the summit starkly revealed Putin's political and diplomatic isolation, with virtually no major Arab leaders in attendance.
