Enforcement and monitoring are patchwork at best. The ceasefire's oversight involves international actors—namely the UN, Egypt, and Qatar—each responsible for different aspects such as aid delivery and border management. Unfortunately, none possess binding enforcement authority. If violations occur, there are no dedicated "ceasefire police" to quell violations; instead, the international community relies on diplomatic condemnations and media statements, which often fail to prevent escalation. Mutual mistrust exacerbates the problem, especially as Israel distrusts the UN, Hamas distrusts Egypt, and Qatar plays a double game as both mediator and supporter of different factions.
