China's airborne units could deploy armored vehicles into open fields, golf courses, sports grounds, or farmland, which are often near critical infrastructure. Once on the ground, these mobile forces would be capable of quickly seizing key terrain, disrupting Taiwanese defenses, and swiftly opening routes for additional forces.
Compared to traditional amphibious assaults, airborne operations with armored vehicles dramatically increase the feasibility of such a campaign and would complicate U.S. and allied military planning.
