The agents claimed they could help secure border contracts if Homan facilitated certain favors in a future Trump administration. Although federal prosecutors initially considered charges ranging from wire fraud to conspiracy, they ultimately concluded the case lacked sufficient evidence, especially since Homan was not in government at the time and there were legal precedents narrowing the scope for prosecuting such conduct.
