Part 2/11:
The Typhon system is a mobile, ship-launched missile launcher capable of firing two key missile types: the SM6 and the Tomahawk cruise missile. These missiles provide a versatile arsenal capable of engaging targets across air, sea, and land domains.
- SM6 Missile: Designed for anti-air and anti-ship missions, this missile boasts speeds in the low hundreds of miles per hour, coupled with precise guidance and sensor linkages, making it effective for layered defense and maritime denial.
- Tomahawk Cruise Missile: The longer-range of the two, the latest variants can reach approximately 900 to 1,000 miles. From southwestern Japan, these missiles could target Shanghai or even Beijing, a geographic shift that significantly expands the threat radius to Chinese territory.
