Part 2/7:
The protest escalated to a tense stand-off at the King Street Bridge, a vital route connecting different parts of Melbourne. Police initially advised protesters to reroute to avoid blocking the bridge, citing concerns over emergency vehicle access. However, protesters defied these instructions, marching along Swanson Street onto Burke Street and heading toward the bridge, demonstrating their determination but also raising concerns among authorities and the public.
Throughout the demonstration, no arrests were reported, which was viewed positively by many. Nonetheless, police are investigating an incident involving an egg allegedly thrown and striking an individual, as well as the burning of an Australian flag by one protester—actions condemned by Victoria's Premier, Jamie Justinta Allen.
