Should the Liberals fail to secure the necessary 18 seats for an outright majority, the responsibility shifts to Labor to attempt forming a government. If both major parties are unable to strike a deal, the independents’ conditions—particularly their demand for transparency and accountability—will weigh heavily in any negotiations.
