Future devices could utilize bio-inspired auditory sensors that detect vibrations associated with tectonic movements or oceanic disturbances signaling an approaching tsunami.
"The goal is to engineer sensors that are incredibly sensitive and capable of real-time monitoring," says Dr. Smith. "By replicating the mechanics of mosquito antennas, we might create a new generation of disaster detection systems that are more responsive and accurate."
