Marrick explained that traditional ships are equipped with robust fire suppression systems to manage internal combustion engine fires effectively. However, when EVs are involved, the fire's severity increases due to the batteries' propensity to catch fire and the difficulty in quenching such incidents, especially after the thermal runaway begins.
