Unlike their previous residence, which is situated within Windsor Park, Fort Belvoir offers a more expansive and secure environment—an attribute increasingly important given recent security concerns. Although it is not immediately adjacent to Windsor Castle, the property is located within Windsor Great Park, offering a blend of proximity and privacy.
The motivation behind this move, however, has a deeper foundation than mere preference. Over the past year, there have been alarming security breaches near Windsor Castle. Notably, two incidents involved individuals breaching castle barriers—one last year, where masked intruders stole farm equipment and came dangerously close to Adelaide Cottage while the royal family was sleeping nearby.
