Part 6/9:
Across the border, U.S.-Mexico relations face friction over recent immigration enforcement actions. Mexican President Claudia Šinbomb announced plans to file a legal complaint against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following a tragic incident on July 10th, at a cannabis farm in California.
The California Raid and Its Aftermath
During the raid—one of the largest under Trump’s administration—more than 360 undocumented workers were detained, including minors. A migrant worker, Haimei Alanis Garcia, fell approximately 30 feet from a greenhouse roof while fleeing, suffering fatal injuries. Though the Department of Homeland Security stated he was not in custody at the time, the death has sparked intense outrage in Mexico.
