Response in Asia: Alerts Eased but Vigilance Continues
Authorities in Taiwan, which initially issued a tsunami warning, have now downgraded and eventually lifted the alert. The initial warning forecasted waves of up to one meter; however, the actual waves observed were only about 12 centimeters high, a relatively minor impact that helped residents and officials breathe a cautious sigh of relief.
