In Mexico, cartel violence continues to spiral out of control. Recent days saw the discovery of 20 mutilated bodies in Sinaloa, some decapitated and hung from bridges—classic cartel displays meant to terrorize rivals and demonstrate dominance. The victims, all shot, reportedly had ties to infighting between factions of the Sinaloa cartel, once a unified empire now fractured after the arrest of co-founder Ismael Zambada (Elmo) and the rise of the Chapo Guzmán’s sons, known as Los Chapitos.
