Part 1/10:
Victorian Farmers Protest Renewable Energy Transmission Laws
Victorian farmers have recently taken a stand against new legislation that threatens to impose hefty fines—more than $12,000—on landowners who refuse access to transmission line workers. The proposed laws aim to facilitate the rollout of approximately 240 kilometers of high-voltage transmission lines designed to connect renewable energy projects across the state. However, this infrastructure development involves crossing about 250 private properties, many owned by farmers who are concerned about the potential damage to their livelihoods and the right to control their land.
