There is a call for a decisive action against Hamas, which is viewed as an obstacle to the creation of any future Palestinian governance. Once Hamas is dismantled, the discussion on statehood could logically proceed, but only then. The current chaos and violence, partly fueled by Hamas's control, prevent any realistic plans for Palestinian self-governance.
