One protest organizer highlighted that Victorian farmers are united against what they call a "draconian" law that impacts their ability to manage their land and livelihoods. They contend that the legislation not only affects rural areas but will also have repercussions for urban populations in the long run.
Some farmers expressed strong opposition to any form of compensation or buyout offers from the government, asserting they do not wish to relinquish ownership or be compelled to accept government-led developments on their land. During a recent farmers’ conference in Bendigo, many rejected the notion that they should be paid for hosting transmission lines, viewing such offers as inadequate and unnecessary.
