According to reports, the accident took place when a sailboat carrying children attending a week-long sailing camp was struck by a nearby barge. The camp is known for providing sailing instruction to children aged 7 to 15, promoting maritime skills and outdoor adventure. On this occasion, six children were aboard the vessel when the collision happened near the Miami area.
Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, rushing all six victims to a nearby hospital. Despite rapid intervention, two children were declared dead immediately upon arrival, underscoring the severity of the crash. A third child was reported to be unresponsive, highlighting the critical condition of at least one of the injured.
