Part 8/11:
Globally, cities like Amsterdam have become renowned for excellent biking infrastructure and a pro-bike culture, supported by government subsidies and urban planning. Such environments are conducive to high e-bike and EV adoption due to their small, flat, and densely populated layouts.
In contrast, Australia's vast geography presents significant challenges. With sprawling suburbs and long distances, forcing residents into bike-centric transport solutions isn't feasible. Limited infrastructure, lack of dedicated bike lanes, and impracticality for families or those needing to travel extensive distances diminish the effectiveness of a purely bike-focused approach.
